Appeal to emotion as a persuasive device! These worksheets help explain how to appeal to emotion in persuasive writing, why this works, give examples, have students identify examples and provide scaffolding for students to learn to do so in their own writing.

There is a worksheet that defines emotive language, gives examples and asks students to use their own versions of emotive language in their writing. There is an activity where students write standard sentences and in the second columns, improve them by adding emotive language. There is a quiz with questions about emotive language, why it is used as a persuasive device, which sentences do and do not have this device and more.

As these are all in PDF you can also teach directly from the file and annotate on your Interactive Whiteboard if you have one as well.
