This is a unit about early civilizations, and it covers prehistory through the development of some of the first civilizations around the world. These early civilizations include Tigris and Euphrates River Valley, Nile River Valley, Indus River Valley, Classical India, Classical China, the Americas, ancient Rome, and ancient Greece. The development of early religion is also explored along with early migrations of people and things that aid in the growth of civilization. Throughout this unit, students will make a timeline, complete graphic organizers, have a class discussion, make their own civilization, and complete a WebQuest. All of the necessary materials are included in the lesson plans, including any answer keys if applicable. This is a unit plan for a high school World History class. Overall, everything should take a little over two weeks to teach.
