EDITABLE pH Activities, with step-by-step Google slides for each step, will increase your students’ independence while completing lab activities. This is perfect for every type of learner and especially helpful for students struggling to complete labs independently. These pH Activities were created to be easy to teach and fun to do. Three hands-on activities are included:

• Forwards and Backwards – Students will make acidic and basic solutions and then try to return them to neutral.
• pH Potion – Students will observe the changes in pH that take place as an antacid dissolves in simulated stomach acid.
• pH Rainbow – Students will learn how to use pH indicator strips to test the pH and universal indicator to test the pH of various samples.

• 10 mL graduated cylinder

• Bottle of Universal indicator
• Universal indicator pH color chart (included)
• ¼ Teaspoon of lemon juice
• 20 mL Tap water in a clear glass or jar
• 2 Effervescent antacid tablets (Alka Seltzer)
• pH paper with comparison key
• Ammonia
• Baking soda
• Bleach (optional)
• Coffee
• Egg
• Lemon juice
• Milk
• Milk of Magnesia
• Dish soap mixed with water to create a liquid solution
• Soda
• Tomato juice

BONUS! Also included:

• Sound of Gas – In this free resource from the Institute of Physics, students will create find out if a bottle filled with oxygen sounds differently than a bottle filled with carbon dioxide when blowing over the opening of the bottle. This can be used as a take-home page for students to extend their learning at home.
