This is a lesson plan that teaches students how to analyze different perspectives in primary sources. The lesson also focuses on the Trail of Tears, but the sources can easily be changed by the teacher as necessary to go over a different topic or to adjust for reading levels. This lesson is heavily focused on student participation and discussion. Students will complete a graphic organizer while they read through the sources to help them organize their thoughts. This lesson was originally designed for a seventh-grade class, but can easily be adapted for any grade level with any sources as needed. All necessary materials are included.
