When to use Rate on Excel

Use Rate on Excel to measure behaviors that are impractical
to count all day long. This product will give you an estimate of about how
often the behavior occurs per minute, hour, or day. Determine the rate of
behavior by tracking it for a designated short period of time across several
days to find an average.

How to Calculate Rate

Not sure how to calculate rate? No problem! Use the
included rate forms to tally how many times the behaviors are observed in a
given time frame.

At the end of the week, enter the total length of time you
observed the student, as well as the number of times you observed the student
engaging in the target behavior into the dated weekly spreadsheet.

When you enter the data into the spreadsheet, a graph will
automatically be created for up to 3 problem behaviors. Easily share the
professional-looking graph with students, parents, and administrators, or use
them as part of your IEP progress report.

Add Phase Lines to Your Graph

Increase the usefulness of your graph by using phase lines.
Add a phase line to the graph when changes occur (medication, class, living
situation, etc.). Over time you will be able to use this information to help
determine the potential causes of behavioral difficulties or potential reasons
for behavior improvement.

You will find that graphs with phase lines can be
especially helpful when working with students who have a Behavior Intervention
Plan, as they help you determine the effectiveness of your interventions.

The graph would work in Excel or Google Sheets, but you
must use Excel if you want to enter phase lines, as Google Sheets does not have
this feature.
