As student read through each scenario and draw faces on each face template ask them to make the faces they are drawing. By making silly faces students will better understand how to express themselves and read other people’s faces.

Unfortunately, during the pandemic students were not able to see faces and recent studies show that by not being able to see facial expressions children can have slow speech and social development. The perception of facial features is an important part of social cognition. Information gathered from faces helps people understand each other’s identity, what they are thinking and feeling, anticipate their actions, recognize their emotions, build connections, and communicate through body language. With this set students can practice with each other making silly faces as they go through each card.

Additionally, students will learn that with words they say and actions they take they can make people feel a certain type of way.
