This lesson plan teaches students how to carefully evaluate a source for credibility. Both print and electronic sources are evaluated, including why Wikipedia should not be cited as a source. The first two activities are done as a class, students will do the third activity with a partner, and then students will need to find a credible source of their own in the fourth activity. All of these sources are related to the age of Andrew Jackson, but can easily be changed to another topic as needed. This was designed for a seventh-grade class, but it can be used for any class depending on the sources and topics that the teacher selects. This lesson only takes one class period to complete. All necessary materials are included.
